The Bulletin of Zoological Nomenclature
The Bulletin of Zoological Nomenclature is the official periodical of the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature, and publishes applications to the Commission from zoologists requiring rulings on the nomenclature of animal names.
Scope

The Bulletin of Zoological Nomenclature (BZN) is the official periodical of the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature. The first volume of the Bulletin was published in 1943. Between 1943 and 1959, the Bulletin was published in parallel with the Opinions and Declarations Rendered by the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature.

The Bulletin publishes applications to the Commission from zoologists requiring rulings from the Commission on the nomenclature of animal names. Following a decision by the Commission, the rulings (known as ‘Opinions’) are published in the Bulletin. Other articles in the Bulletin include discussions on the nomenclature of animal names, comments on applications previously published in the Bulletin, discussions and clarifications on the application of the International Code of Zoological Nomenclature, as well as best practices on the use and formation of animal names.

The Bulletin joined BioOne in 2017. BioOne hosts content from 2008 (volume 65) and onwards. Content up to 2007 (volume 64) is available on the Biodiversity Heritage Library.
